The July 20th meeting of the book club presents a legal thriller with its selection of The Rooster Bar by John Grisham. Do Mark, Todd, and Zola remain their last year in law school to achieve degrees or do they expose the shady dealings of the school's New York hedge-fund operator? And what happens to the thousands of dollars in debt they have incurred? This novel, published in 2017, promises to be an exciting read. John Grisham is a well-known writer, attorney, activist, and politician who has written over 31 novels. Eight of these have been adapted for the movies, including "The Firm," "Runaway Jury," "A Time to Kill," and even "Christmas with the Kranks" which was based on one of his comedic stories. Grisham graduated with a J.D. degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1981 and served in that state's House of Representatives during the late 1980s. He has received numerous literary awards, serves on the board of directors for the Innocence Project, and has written a series for young readers featuring the characterTheodore Boone which introduces children to legal issues.The book group meets from 10-11am on the third Saturday of the month (except for December) at the Riverton Village Library and anyone who is interested is welcome to attend.
