Available Resources

Many different types of materials are available for checkout:
  • Books
  • Large Print Books
  • Books on CD
  • Music on CD
  • DVDs
  • Ebooks
  • Audio Ebooks

Checkout period for DVDs is one week.  All other material has a three week checkout period. ​If you need curbside service, library staff will be available M-Th 10pm-7pm and Sat 10am-2pm at 217-629-6353. We are usually available to set a time to bring your selections to your vehicle or come out to get your returns.

The library also offers a conference room for use by the public.  This room seats 12 and can be reserved by contacting the library for details and restrictions.

About SHARE and more

The Riverton Village Library is a member of the Illinois Heartland Library System and part of the SHARE library consortium.  This provides our patrons with the lending resources of more than 520 libraries in the state of Illinois.  The Riverton Village Library is also a member of the WorldCat and can access harder to find resources that are held in Illinois libraries. 

To manage accounts and select material online, patrons have access to the SHARE Mobile library app and the SHARE site at http://search.illinoisheartland.org/default.aspx?ctx=429.1033.0.0.1.  The Cloud Library is also offered for access to ebooks and eaudiobooks. We are excited to share that the ASPEN discovery tool will be available in early 2024 to allow patrons to locate all types of resources held by member libraries. ASPEN should allow patrons to access all available material in one tool.  We will share more about this as it becomes available.  All that is needed to access these resources is a library card number and PIN.  Library staff can help patrons become familiar with these tools. 

Patron account information can be updated by contacting the library or by submitting a request through SHARE.  Those requests sent through SHARE will take longer to process than those made by calling the library.  If a quick change is needed, a call to the library is the best way to make sure that information is updated.  

In addition to online services, material can also be requested by contacting the library staff.  Using the Share Mobile Library app lets patrons access and manage their account at any time and on any day, but the library staff can help with all kinds of searches and can usually find harder to access resources.
